Hope in a Box provides public school educators with curated sets of LGBTQ-inclusive literature, distinctive curriculum for these books, and community and training on how to build an LGBTQ-inclusive classroom. We were approached to develop their end-of-the-year giving campaign with massive fundraising goals: raise $50,000 in 6 months. We developed a fundraising marketing campaign that smashed their goals and increased their donor base.

Fundraising Campaign: Ban Hate, Give Hope

Equipped with a new battle cry: “Ban Hate, Give Hope”, Hope in a Box was looking for the best way to utilize this call to action. As political temperatures hit an all time high, Hope in a Box knew it was imperative continued to support LGBTQ+ youth in the areas where they are most needed. This campaign set out to first and foremost educate potential donors on the importance of Hope in a Box to both students and educators.

Email Marketing

Because more than 75% of Hope in a Box’s donations come from email subscribers, we made sure to focus on email marketing for their end-of-year giving campaign. Focused on the stories of Hope in a Box’s teachers and students, these emails showed the positives of Hope in a Box’s work and how our work truly impacts their lives.

Donor Mapping

Our Hope in a Box partnership includes identifying the Hope in a Box donor persona. To craft this persona, we completed a series of interviews with board members and surveyed the Hope in a Box donor pool.
